Update October 6

Last night around 30 people were arrested in the Wall Street area around the various Occupy Wall Street marches. A number of them were released on DATs and Summonses in the early morning hours, but at least 12 people are still in the Tombs waiting to be arraigned.

For all of you who have been arrested and released, please make sure Legal has your contact — we want to work on a common defense strategy together and will be making announcements about upcoming legal meetings with lawyers from the National Lawyers Guild.

Latest Update

LATEST NEWS: 3:15pm, October 2, 2011

Our lawyers from the National Lawyers Guild Mass Defense Committee report from Manhattan Criminal Court, Central Booking that there are only 10 more protesters waiting for arraignment. They will be arraigned this afternoon.

According to what Police is telling our lawyers, 400 people have been released on Desk Appearance Tickets, and another 200 on Summonses.

Many who have been released have not called the legal office to let us know they are free, so for now we are going by what the police are telling our lawyers. If you are looking for friends and comrades, please check with them and their support before calling the legal office.

Go back to the streets, we’ve got your back!

In solidarity,

NYCPLC

——————————-

People were being released on Desk Appearance Tickets (DAT) from Central Booking, from Midtown North and Precincts in Brooklyn all night long. All the court appearance dates, including for folks released in Brooklyn, seem to be for Manhattan Criminal Court.

For those who did not get a DAT last night, arraignments will be starting at 1pm at Manhattan Criminal Court, 100 Centre Street, first floor. National Lawyers Guild lawyers will be in the courtroom to help.

If  you have been released please call the legal hotline so we know you are now free, and we have your info. The number is (212) 679-6018.

Some Quick Legal Info

It has been a dramatic afternoon on the Brooklyn Bridge. Here’s some useful information from the small and overworked legal team that will help with getting you and your friends out of jail.

If Your Friend Got Arrested
•    Don’t Panic, lots of people are working to make sure they are ok
•    Call the Legal Team 212-679-6018
•    Go to the precinct they are being held at, if they get moved to 100 Centre Street go there. Bring food, water and aspirin for when they get out.
•    To find your friend in the system call Central Booking (212) 374-3921 and ask for their docket number, write it down.
•    Arraignments are at 100 Centre Street on the first floor. You will need to go through a metal detector and can’t bring knives, alcohol etc.
•    When your friend gets out make sure to contact the legal team.

If You Get Arrested
•    Call out your name to the legal    observers (so we can keep track of you)
•    Get names of others you have been arrested with so you can give them to the legal team
•    Remain silent to police about what you saw or did
•    Be patient, going to jail sucks but you will be out and people have your back
•    If you have a chance to call from jail call the Legal Team at
212-679-6018
•    Call the Legal Team when you get out of jail
•    Go back to the streets!
